Feeds
Lately I've been finding more and more useful, informative, and fun blogs online to follow, or sites that post their updates in feeds. These include RSS feeds, atom feeds, and even FeedBurner. That way I can get all the latest updates from those blogs that don't update that often as soon as they update (like for instance mine). So grab an RSS reader (http://reader.google.com) and add me by subscribing to this addres. http://feeds.feedburner.com/TotalEmulsion Than when I don't post for a month and you forget about my blog, you'll get a nice handy reminder in your rss feed reader.

Back to the Bluff
Hooray, it quit raining AND warmed from freezing temperatures to 65 degrees. So we went back to the bluff, got some more apples, and then went to find the mythical pumpkin cannon. Let me tell you, we found it. Unfortunately I thought it would be cool to try and video tape it, and then failed miserably at said video footage. But, we did walk around the pumpkin patch! All of the pumpkins still on the vine froze and were ruined, so the few good ones were put into rows so you could pretend to be in the patch, but still get a good pumpkin.
Oops...
I was going to post. I have some sweet photos from today, but blogspot is biffing it hardcore. I'll try again later, so keep checking

Total Lunarcy
Explaining my return to digital/35mm format. First off, I want to say that despite the convenience and reduced cost of shooting digital pictures, I still love film. I still like looking at slide film on a lightbox more than I like looking at pictures on the computer. But, I sure can do more with a digital camera. Crop sensors, non-full frame digital, means that I take the lens length in 35mm terms, and multiply it by 1.6. My 500mm lens (its a reflex mirror lens) is equivelent to a 800mm lens. Making shooting the moon a bit easier. Also, since the 500mm lens is cheap, it doesn't tell the camera that its a fixed f/8 aperature, but live view means I can judge exposure before hand, and I can use live view magnification to focus better. I also have free high iso shots. The moon was shot at ISO 400. The first shot of the stars was shot with a completely silly 12,800 ISO speed. The second was shot with ISO 200, 25 second long exposure. Just silly easy. Now I just need to get away from the city so I can see some serious stars. And the star shots, sorry I didn't use live view to focus, they're clearly out of focus. I'm over it. When I can get real good pictures of stars, I'll take the time to focus.

Sick sick sick
New camera! Rainy weather.... Fun shots though! Its so nice to shoot whatever I want to see if it looks good, no worries about processing costs, printing costs, because its digital! Still don't want to be near the computer. I've mostly been playing with the video functionality, just because its new and I'm a techie geek, but here are a few images despite it.

The Return to Digital-ville
First, my new camera arrived today. For those of you interested, it is Canon's new 7D. I've been running around the house a bit taking test shots, and I'm very impressed. Despite a huge pixel count (18megapixels), the images are still clean, with noise oddly enough reminicent of film grain... Anyways, until I find a new scanner (not in a hurry, school school school), some of the images popping up might have to be digital. For instance, here is the first image of my newly redone motorcycle! Minus the headlight.....
